The Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia is one of the oldest and most prestigious yacht clubs in America.
Founded in 1892, we've been at the forefront of the sport of sailing for over 130 years.
Our members have competed in, and won medals in, the Olympics, multiple National and World Championships, and all the top ocean races including the Newport to Bermuda Race, the Annapolis to Newport Race, the Annapolis to Bermuda Race, the Chicago to Mackinac Race, and the TransPac Race.
On small boats.
Our members actively sail and race a number of small boats. We have about 20 J22's and 10 V15's racing each Wednesday evening from April through September.
We are actively looking to add Lasers, Sunfish, Flying Scotts, and Lightnings to the mix. Our sailing area is perfect for centerboard boats of all sizes.
Our members travel to race, participating in national and international regattas around the country in J22s, Melges 22, Lightnings, Etchels, Lasers and more.
On big boats.
Our members actively participate in big boat races up and down the east coast.
We have a regatta each spring and fall for our big boat fleet on the Chesapeake Bay. This includes three distance races in the Spring and two in the fall. Historically, the Spring races are over Memorial Day Weekend and the Fall races are on the third weekend of September.
Our members participate in PHRF and ORR races on the Chesapeake Bay. Including a recent wins in the 2021 and 2022 Performance Cruiser division.
Our members head offshore and participate in all the major ocean races. In 2022 we had four boats that competed in the Newport to Bermuda Race and for 2023 have four boats registered for the Annapolis to Newport Race.
On cruises.
Yes we race ... but what is possibly better than spending quality time with friends on the water. Our Spring and Fall Cruises are legendary. Competitive racing during the day and epic raft-ups and parties in the evening.
The Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia has been running cruises on the Chesapeake Bay for over 100 years. It is such an integral part of our club's culture it is written into the club's bylaws.
Our fleet travels too.
This summer we are planning a New England Cruise for late July. Starting in Mystic CT and ending in Nantucket with stops (and parties) in Newport, South Dartmouth, Cuttyhunk, and Martha's Vineyard along the way.
Members with both power boats and sail boats are welcome.
We learn.
Sailing is a lifetime sport and our clinics and coaches will make sure you start fast and get better regardless of your age.
We run a summer Jr. Sailing program for kids 10 to 15 years old. The program runs for six weeks and kids can sign up for two or more weeks each year. They learn the basics of sailing right on through becoming competitive racers in their own right.
We host a High School Sailing Program that attracts over 50 high schoolers each year and allows them to learn and compete regionally.
For our members we run Adult Sailing Programs for people who are looking to learn and racing clinics for experienced sailors looking to hone their skills.
